Only 17 years old, Kanaklata led a group of villagers to hoist the national flag at a police station in Gohpur, Assam, during the Quit India Movement. She was shot while holding the flag high, refusing to let it fall.
Velu Nachiyar – The Queen Who Fought Before 1857
Long before the First War of Independence, Rani Velu Nachiyar of Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, fought the British in the late 1700s. She formed alliances, trained an army, and is known as the first Indian queen to wage war against colonial rule.
Alluri Sitarama Raju – The Forest Warrior
In the tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Alluri Sitarama Raju led the Rampa Rebellion (1922–1924) against British policies. He mobilized tribal communities, using guerrilla tactics to challenge British forces until he was captured and executed.
