India has once again urged both Israel and Palestinian groups to agree to an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel–Gaza conflict. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also called for the unconditional release of hostages and uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, where the situation continues to worsen.
Strong Push for Humanitarian Access
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted that India’s stance has remained firm from the start of the conflict: peace must be restored, aid must reach those in need, and dialogue must be encouraged. He noted that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has become extremely severe, with official reports indicating at least 239 deaths linked to starvation.
Israel’s Response to Aid Concerns
In reaction to criticism over aid delays, Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) dismissed claims of obstruction. The Israeli authority stated that more than 300 truckloads of relief items are entering Gaza daily, and over 400 truckloads have been distributed to civilians through the United Nations and partner agencies.
Reaffirming the Two State Solution
India reiterated that a long-term resolution to the Israel–Palestine conflict can only come through the two-state solution, ensuring secure borders for Israel and a sovereign, independent state for Palestinians. The MEA stressed that without political compromise, the region risks sinking deeper into violence.
A Consistent Diplomatic Stand
India’s position reflects a careful diplomatic balance, maintaining strong bilateral relations with Israel while standing up for humanitarian principles and the rights of Palestinians. This approach has been a constant element of India’s foreign policy in West Asia for decades.
