New Delhi – On the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood at the historic Red Fort and laid out an ambitious vision for India, setting the nation’s sights firmly on becoming a fully developed, self-reliant country by 2047. His address touched on security, economic growth, technology, and national pride, weaving them into a roadmap for the next two decades.
Vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’
PM Modi described Independence Day as “a celebration of 140 crore resolutions” with a collective mission where every citizen plays a part. By 2047, he said, India should stand tall as a nation of strength, innovation, and self-sufficiency, unshaken by global pressures.
Firm Stand on Security and Sovereignty
In a clear warning to hostile forces, he declared that India will no longer tolerate nuclear threats or terrorism. Referring to the swift response after the Pahalgam terror attack, he praised the armed forces for their decisive action. He also signaled a rethink of the Indus Waters Treaty, saying “blood and water will not flow together,” stressing that India’s resources should first benefit its own people.
Driving Self-Reliance in Technology and Energy
The Prime Minister showcased India’s progress in advanced manufacturing and clean energy. Home-grown semiconductor chips are expected to roll out by year end, while the country expands its nuclear power capacity and invests in solar and hydrogen energy. “Aatm Nirbhar Bharat is not a slogan, it is our path to strength,” he said.
Jobs, Reforms, and Youth Empowerment
Announcing the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana, he pledged Rs 15,000 for individuals securing their first private sector job. He also promised GST reforms before Diwali to reduce the burden on common citizens. For the youth, he highlighted India’s space ambitions, including the Gaganyaan mission and plans for a national space station.
