Russia has firmly rejected any possibility of foreign military deployment in Ukraine, calling it “unacceptable.” The statement was delivered by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova during a press briefing, where she emphasized that Moscow has no plans to discuss such measures in any format.

Zakharova stressed that the introduction of foreign forces into Ukraine would only further escalate tensions and worsen the already fragile security environment in the region. According to her, Russia views any such proposal as a direct challenge to its national security and regional stability. She reiterated that Moscow would not engage in talks that involve foreign troops being stationed in Ukraine.

The remarks come against the backdrop of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which began in February 2022 and has continued for more than three years. The conflict has led to widespread destruction, tens of thousands of casualties, and repeated international calls for peace. Discussions around security guarantees and troop deployments have been a recurring point of contention between Russia, Ukraine, and Western nations.

Several Western leaders have previously raised the idea of increasing military presence in and around Ukraine to deter further escalation. Russia’s outright rejection of these ideas underscores the deep divide between Moscow and Western capitals on how to manage the conflict. Zakharova’s comments signal that Russia will not compromise on this issue, even as international pressure continues to mount.

While dismissing any discussion of foreign troops, Zakharova called on other countries to avoid actions that could deepen the conflict. She urged the international community to prioritize diplomatic solutions and to recognize the risks that come with military escalation. Russia’s stance remains that dialogue, rather than the deployment of external forces, is the only path to long-term stability.
