Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has firmly rejected recent US accusations of drug trafficking, calling them “false and politically motivated.” Speaking at a press conference in Caracas, Maduro said that Venezuela’s record in combating narcotics has been consistent and internationally recognized, despite Washington’s repeated attempts to discredit his government.

“The accusations from the United States are a fabrication meant to attack Venezuela’s sovereignty,” Maduro said. “We have shown through facts and data that we are a country committed to fighting drug trafficking.”

Maduro underscored Venezuela’s growing cooperation with Colombia, describing the partnership as a regional success in counter-narcotics operations. He praised recent joint security efforts between the two neighboring countries, saying they had achieved “significant results in dismantling criminal networks” along the shared border.

The Venezuelan president also emphasized that such collaboration was made possible after the restoration of diplomatic relations between Caracas and Bogotá, following years of political tensions. “Together, Venezuela and Colombia are advancing toward stability, development, and regional unity,” he stated.

In his remarks, Maduro urged Latin American nations to strengthen continental unity and resist what he called “divisive narratives” coming from outside powers. He said Venezuela remains committed to working within regional organizations such as CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) to promote peace, sovereignty, and mutual respect.

“The time has come for Latin America to stand as one free from interference and guided by cooperation,” Maduro said.

The United States has long accused Venezuelan officials of involvement in drug trafficking, allegations Caracas has repeatedly denied. Venezuela maintains that its anti-drug operations are carried out in coordination with international bodies and that the country’s efforts have led to the seizure of thousands of kilograms of illegal substances in recent years.

Maduro concluded his address by reaffirming that Venezuela’s focus will remain on “truth, sovereignty, and unity among nations of the South.”
