A civilian was killed in southern Lebanon after an Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in the town of Sir al-Gharbiyeh in Nabatieh District. Health officials in Lebanon confirmed the death, saying the attack caused panic among residents in the area.
Reports said the strike was not isolated. Drones were also seen over al-Qatrani, al-Jarmaq, al-Mahmoudiyah, and Kfar Kila. In Kfar Kila, a municipal vehicle was damaged, while the outskirts of Kfar Chouba came under direct fire. The escalation has raised fears of further civilian casualties in these border communities.
Lebanese officials denounced the strike as part of repeated violations against their country. The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) also condemned the attack, reminding all parties that civilian protection is required under international law. UN representatives called for restraint to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
The victim killed in the strike was reportedly driving the targeted vehicle. Residents said they are living in fear as repeated strikes continue to disrupt daily life in southern Lebanon. Families in the affected towns have expressed concern about children, schools, and basic services being put at risk.
Southern Lebanon has witnessed repeated flare-ups over the past year, even after a ceasefire announced in late 2024. Cross-border shelling, drone activity, and sporadic artillery fire have left communities vulnerable. The latest strike is seen by many in Lebanon as part of a wider pattern of violations.
Lebanese authorities are pressing for international investigations into the incident. They argue that repeated targeting of civilian areas undermines stability in the region. Community leaders and rights groups have also demanded accountability for those responsible, stressing that civilians must not pay the price of ongoing military actions.
