Singer and actress Ariana Grande experienced a frightening moment at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good when a man suddenly rushed toward her on the red carpet. The incident, which unfolded on November 13 at Universal Studios Singapore, left the star visibly shaken and has now led to formal charges against the suspect.

The man, identified by authorities as 26-year-old Johnson Wen, allegedly climbed over barricades and lunged at Grande while she was greeting fans and posing for photos. Actress Cynthia Erivo, Grande’s co-star, reacted quickly by stepping between the singer and the attacker before security intervened. Wen was arrested at the scene and charged with being a public nuisance.

While Grande was not physically harmed, sources say the scare immediately triggered her PTSD, a lasting trauma tied to the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, which killed 22 people during her concert. According to insiders, unexpected confrontations, even if not violent, can send Grande into a state of fear and emotional distress as her mind jumps to worst-case scenarios.

Authorities later revealed that Wen is a repeat disruptor, known for crashing other celebrity events involving stars like Katy Perry and The Weeknd. Singapore officials have described his behavior as “escalating” and “dangerous,” prompting concerns about event security going forward.

Grande continued with her scheduled press activities after taking a brief break to steady herself. She did not mention the incident directly, but later posted a message thanking Singapore for its warm welcome, calling the event “beautiful” and “full of love.”

Fans across social media have praised Cynthia Erivo for her quick protective actions and expressed concern for Grande’s mental well-being. Many also called for tighter security at red carpet events, especially for celebrities who have endured past trauma.

As the case against Wen moves forward, Grande’s team is reportedly increasing security protocols for upcoming promotional events. For the star, the incident serves as a stark reminder of how the shadows of past tragedies can resurface without warning even in celebratory moments.
