The Global Sumud Flotilla, a fleet carrying activists and humanitarian aid, is continuing its course toward Gaza despite repeated interceptions by the Israeli navy. According to organizers, the flotilla is now just 46 nautical miles from Gaza’s coast.

Interceptions by the Israeli Military

Since the most recent update, two additional vessels have been seized by Israeli forces, bringing the total number of intercepted boats to 15. Despite this, 28 boats remain on course toward the blockaded territory. Israeli forces have carried out measures such as boarding vessels, halting their progress, and escorting them away from the route.

Activists and Humanitarian Mission

The flotilla is transporting more than 500 activists from multiple countries, along with aid supplies intended for Gaza. Organizers state that the mission is aimed at challenging the blockade while delivering medical and essential goods. The activists on board include human rights defenders, medical workers, and volunteers representing international solidarity groups.

Obstacles Faced During the Journey

The flotilla has faced a range of challenges, including skunk water attacks, threats of ramming, drone surveillance, and harassment at sea. Organizers reported that despite these difficulties, participants have remained committed to continuing their journey. No major injuries have been reported, but the conditions have made progress slow and tense.

The remaining 28 boats are moving forward under constant monitoring by Israeli naval forces. Flotilla representatives said their goal is not only to deliver aid but also to draw international attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Maritime attempts to reach Gaza have historically faced interceptions due to the longstanding naval blockade. While many of these missions have ended with vessels being seized, international activists continue to organize such efforts as a form of protest and to push for greater global awareness.
