Hi, I’m Jahnavi. I’m 21, a typical Gen Z kid who has read every Pinterest board quote about “manifest your dream life” and even tried the whole scripting thing where you write your goals in a pretty notebook and wait for the universe to deliver. Spoiler alert: the universe didn’t magically send me straight A’s or a new iPhone. What I did learn though? Manifestation works only when you treat it as mindset plus action, not just a cosmic Amazon delivery.

The Myth We All Fell For

Let’s be honest, manifestation blew up on TikTok and Instagram because it looks aesthetic. Pretty journals, vision boards, people claiming they “thought hard enough” and suddenly got their dream job. But here’s the catch: manifestation without action is like saving gym reels on Insta but never stepping into the gym. Cute, but useless.

Belief is Fuel, Not the Car

Belief is important. If you don’t think you can pull something off, you’ll probably never even try. Manifestation gives you the mindset shift makes you believe “this is possible for me.” But belief alone is like having fuel and no car. You need the actual engine (aka effort) to move.

Example: You want better grades. Visualize yourself acing exams, sure. But if you don’t open the textbook and study, the only thing you’ll manifest is disappointment.

Aligning Energy with Effort

Think of it like this: manifestation sets your vibe, action sets your results. Both have to align. If your energy says “I’m gonna be healthier” but your actions say “I’m ordering Zomato at 1 AM every night,” the mismatch cancels your own manifestation.

When I started pairing affirmations with habits like actually following a study schedule instead of just writing “I will top the class” in my journal I saw real change. Not overnight, but steady, visible change.

Manifestation as Mindset Training

The real power of manifestation is not “attracting” random miracles. It’s training your brain. When you visualize, you prime your mind to notice opportunities you’d otherwise ignore. Suddenly, the internship listing you’d have scrolled past looks like the perfect fit. Suddenly, you’re actually motivated to text your professor for extra help. That’s not magic it’s mindset rewiring.

Why This Works for Gen Z

We’re the hustle burnout Instagram generation. We want quick fixes but deep down we know real growth needs grind. Manifestation becomes our way to stay positive, but it can’t be the whole plan. Use it as a mental gym where you build confidence and clarity but also show up for the boring, unglamorous work.

The Final Spill

Manifestation is not magic. It’s not the law of attraction beaming iPhones from the sky. It’s mindset. It’s rewiring your thoughts to believe you can, so you start moving like someone who can. Pair belief with effort, and that’s where the results hit.

So next time you’re writing “I will get my dream job,” also update that CV, apply to actual companies, and maybe even attend that workshop you keep ignoring. Manifest it, yes but make moves too.
