The Gaza Civil Defense has reported that Israeli airstrikes were carried out in parts of Gaza shortly after a ceasefire plan was announced. The strikes were said to have hit several locations in the northern and central regions of the enclave, prompting emergency response teams to deploy immediately.

Local authorities confirmed that rescue operations were underway to assist residents affected by the strikes, though the full extent of the damage has not yet been independently verified.

The reported airstrikes came just hours after international mediators announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which was expected to come into effect in the coming days. The deal includes a phased release of hostages, prisoner exchanges, and coordinated humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza.

Officials in Cairo and Doha, who have been facilitating the talks, had earlier expressed optimism that both parties were prepared to uphold the terms of the truce. The renewed violence has raised concerns over the fragile nature of the agreement.

Emergency Response and Damage Assessment

Gaza’s civil defense teams said they were responding to multiple fire incidents and building collapses caused by the strikes. Medical crews transported several injured individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment. No official casualty figures have been released so far.

Residents in parts of Gaza City reported hearing explosions overnight, while electricity and communication services were briefly disrupted in some areas.

Humanitarian organizations have called for an immediate halt to military activity to allow aid convoys safe access to affected zones. Regional observers noted that any renewed escalation could delay the implementation of the ceasefire and humanitarian operations already planned for the week.

As of Thursday morning, efforts by mediators to confirm both sides’ commitment to the ceasefire are continuing. Officials have urged restraint to prevent further deterioration of conditions for civilians in Gaza.
