Islamic Jihad leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah dismissed recent remarks made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the United Nations, saying such threats were not new and would not force Palestinians to give up their struggle. Speaking in a televised interview, al-Nakhalah stressed that Palestinians had endured decades of sacrifices and would not “surrender to killers.”

According to him, Israel’s repeated warnings at international forums aim to weaken the Palestinian people’s resolve. “Our people have given everything lives, homes, families, yet they continue to resist,” al-Nakhalah stated.

The Islamic Jihad leader underscored that the Palestinian cause is not just about territory, but about dignity and rights. He said the Palestinian people see themselves as defending their existence against occupation and aggression, adding that no amount of political or military pressure will change that.

Al-Nakhalah highlighted that resistance movements, including Islamic Jihad, view their role as defending the Palestinian identity. He argued that while international platforms such as the UN are used to threaten Palestinians, the people remain firm in their determination not to yield.

Al-Nakhalah also criticized the global community for failing to take effective steps to address the conflict. He accused major world powers of turning a blind eye to Palestinian suffering while enabling Israel’s continued military actions.

“Every time the world looks away, our people pay the price. But we will not abandon our rights, no matter the sacrifices required,” he said.

His remarks come at a time of heightened tension in the region, following Netanyahu’s UN speech that warned of harsher measures against Palestinian armed groups. Al-Nakhalah’s response reflects the entrenched positions on both sides, with little sign of compromise.

For Palestinians, he concluded, the struggle is not only political but existential. “We cannot surrender what is ours. Our rights are not for negotiation; they are for future generations to inherit.”
