The Gaza Civil Defense has reported that the Israeli military destroyed at least 50 buildings in Gaza within the past 24 hours. According to spokesman Mahmoud Basal, the destruction included high-rise buildings that housed thousands of residents and displaced families.

The attacks, which took place across different areas of Gaza, have intensified concerns over the safety of civilians who have already been forced to leave their homes during months of conflict.

Basal added that around 100 other buildings were partially damaged during the same period. He also stated that Israeli forces targeted areas where displaced people had set up temporary shelters. More than 200 tents and makeshift shelters were destroyed in the strikes, leaving hundreds without any cover.

The Civil Defense emphasized that this has worsened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where overcrowding and shortages of food, water, and medical supplies remain critical issues.

In his remarks, Basal described the attacks as part of a “systematic” policy aimed at intensifying forced displacement. He said that targeting both permanent structures and temporary shelters reflects a strategy of pushing civilians into even greater vulnerability.

Humanitarian organizations working in Gaza have repeatedly warned that continued strikes on residential areas and shelters place enormous pressure on displaced families who have nowhere safe to turn.

According to aid agencies, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians remain displaced within Gaza. Many of them are living in tents, schools, or makeshift shelters, while others move frequently in search of safety. The destruction of additional shelters has left already vulnerable communities exposed to extreme hardship.

The Civil Defense has called for immediate international intervention to halt what it described as deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure. The agency warned that unless the destruction stops, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza will deepen further, leaving displaced families without even basic shelter.
