The Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow for the second consecutive night, marking another escalation in cross-border aerial attacks amid the ongoing conflict.

According to officials, several drones were intercepted and destroyed over the Moscow region, while fragments from downed drones caused minor damage in residential areas. No casualties were reported. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed the attack and said emergency services were deployed immediately to secure affected sites.

Russia’s air defense systems reportedly shot down multiple drones approaching the capital from the southwest and west. Video footage shared on local media showed explosions in the sky and debris falling over the city outskirts, prompting brief road closures and emergency response operations.

Authorities temporarily halted air traffic at Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports during the attack, following standard safety procedures. Flights later resumed after airspace clearance.

While the Ukrainian military has not officially commented on the latest incident, similar drone operations in recent months have been described by Kyiv as part of its broader effort to target Russian infrastructure and defense assets.

The Russian Defense Ministry reiterated that its forces “successfully neutralized all aerial threats” and maintained control of the capital’s airspace. The ministry also accused Ukraine of continuing what it described as “terrorist tactics” against civilian targets, a claim that could not be independently verified.

In recent weeks, Moscow authorities have stepped up air defense installations across the city and surrounding regions, particularly near key government and industrial areas. Officials said these measures would remain in place “for as long as necessary.”

The drone attacks mark the latest in a series of nighttime assaults that have tested Russia’s air defenses and heightened security tensions in and around the capital.
