Yemeni President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, has issued a strong statement following the killing of Ahmad Ghaleb al-Rahwi, Prime Minister of Yemen’s National Government of Change and Construction. Al-Rahwi was killed in what Yemen described as an Israeli airstrike during a meeting in the north of the country.
Al-Mashat mourned al-Rahwi and others killed in the attack, calling them “great martyrs” whose sacrifice would inspire further steadfastness and resistance.
Call for Steadfastness and Support
In his remarks, al-Mashat praised the commitment of Yemeni leaders and fighters to support Palestinians and stand against Israeli aggression. He said the blood of the martyrs would serve as a “greater incentive and a stronger motivator for steadfastness, perseverance, and dedication.”
The Yemeni leader emphasized that his people would not be broken by threats, stating, “We will not be frightened by raids or terrified by threats.”
Pledge of Retaliation
Al-Mashat pledged that Yemen would respond, vowing that the families of martyrs and the wounded would see revenge. He claimed Yemen’s armed forces are “in a position of strength” and promised that Israeli actions would not go unanswered.
“Our revenge does not sleep,” he warned, adding that “dark days await” Israel for the consequences of its actions.
Message to Gaza and Regional Companies
Al-Mashat also reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people in Gaza, declaring that Yemen’s stance would remain unchanged until the aggression stops.
In a broader warning, he addressed companies operating in Israel, advising them to leave before it is “too late,” suggesting that continued presence could put them at risk.
The Yemeni leader concluded by stressing that his country would face “challenge with challenge” and remain committed to the struggle, regardless of how long it takes. “Victory is our ally,” he said, underscoring a continued posture of resistance.
The statement reflects Yemen’s alignment with Palestinian groups and its opposition to Israeli operations, marking a significant escalation in rhetoric following the strike.
