With just over a week until New York City votes for its next mayor, Zohran Mamdani has taken a clear lead in the latest round of polling. Two independent surveys show the Queens Assemblyman ahead of rivals Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa by double digits signaling a decisive shift in voter sentiment ahead of Election Day.

A Victory Insights poll released this week places Mamdani 18 points ahead, while a Patriot Polling survey shows an 11-point advantage. Analysts say the results reflect his growing support among younger voters and progressive Democrats across the city.

Early voting has been steady across the five boroughs since polls opened over the weekend. As of Sunday, around 164,000 New Yorkers had already cast their ballots. Turnout figures show Brooklyn and Manhattan leading with more than 49,000 voters each, followed by Queens (38,791), The Bronx (14,225), and Staten Island (12,551).

Election officials note that early voting trends are consistent with previous city elections, though enthusiasm appears higher this cycle, given the intensity of the race.

Mamdani, who has run on a platform focused on housing affordability, climate action, and social equity, drew large crowds at a recent rally in Queens. The event featured national progressive figures Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, both of whom endorsed his campaign.

Former Governor Andrew Cuomo has emphasized his experience and crisis management record, while Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, continues to campaign on public safety and cost-of-living issues.

While Mamdani’s lead appears significant, both Cuomo and Sliwa are ramping up their outreach in the final stretch, particularly in outer-borough neighborhoods where voter turnout can shift quickly.

With early ballots already piling up and citywide debates drawing attention, New York’s mayoral race is entering its final and most decisive week.
